Post-Workout Recovery: Chocolate Pudding?

I did another Balanced Bites sugar detox a few weeks ago and decided to give some of the recipes listed in the manual a try. My eye instantly caught the title “Easy Recipe: Dairy Free Chocolate Mousse (or Pudding),” probably because it contained the words “easy” and “chocolate.” It was surprisingly delicious despite the lack of added sugar. Now that the sugar detox is over, I’ve tweaked the recipe to be more post-workout appropriate. Today I did the benchmark CrossFit workout Fran, and I did it with the prescribed standards for the first time ever. My spirits are still high and my throat still burns. And I devoured my pudding in about 20 seconds.

Post-Workout Pudding:

1 banana

1 avocado

1 scoop chocolate protein powder (about 25 grams)

1-2 Tbs unsweetened cocoa

2 tsp honey

1 tsp vanilla

¼ cup coconut milk

1 pinch salt (optional)

Simply put all ingredients into a blender or food processor and combine. I use Gold Standard 100% Whey chocolate protein powder because of its good purity:price ratio. Aside from the protein, you get plenty of monounsaturated fat and B vitamins from the avocado, and some potassium from the banana. If you’d like to save some for later, you can freeze it into fudge pops. So good.
